Vape cart and meth display poster

Vape Cart & Meth Display

Better Brodhead was invited to have a display during the November Parent Teacher conferences at Brodhead Middle School. Around 35 parents and students stopped by our display. The vape cart displays the dangers of the chemicals in a vape. The meth display is meant to educate the community on the dangers of the “one-pot method” of manufacturing meth amphetamines. Thank you Brodhead Middle School for your continued support and partnership!

Red Ribbon Week 2019

Red Ribbon Week at Albrecht Elementary school was a huge success. We are proud to continue this partnership and bring a week of substance use and bullying prevention to our elementary students. A big thank you also goes out to Brodhead Y2Y, Brodhead Police Department and Green County Sheriff’s Office for participating in the week of events!

Brodhead Night Out Booth 2019

Brodhead Night Out 2019

Better Brodhead was a co-sponsor of this annual event that promotes positive interactions with our local law enforcement and other agencies. Thanks to our Y2Y members and coalition members we had nearly 100 photos taken at our photo booth! Our theme this year was “Thank you to our First Responders/Be a Drug Free Hero”.

Dia del Nino childrens day

Dia Del Nino/Children’s Day

Better Brodhead partnered with the Multicultural Outreach Program to organize the First Children’s Day Celebration in Green County. Children were the focus of the day! We celebrated with a parade, Beloit Even Start Dancers, face painting, photo booth, kindness rocks, flag making and pinatas. Hopefully this is the first of many more multicultural events in our community!

Hidden In Plain Sight Fire/EMS

On May 15th, 2019 Better Brodhead and Brodhead Police Department collaborated on a Hidden In Plain Sight training for Brodhead Fire and Brodhead Area EMS personnel. This training highlighted the dangers of the “one pot method” of meth production. Instead of demonstrating a room we set up a “rolling” meth lab in the back of a vehicle. We hope to continue to provide this training in the future.

Better Brodhead’s Star Wars Photo Booth at Brodhead Night Out

Brodhead Night Out was amazing this year!!  It was held at Jaycees Park on August 21st from 5-9pm.  Law enforcement had a dunk tank and a number of our enforcement officers got a bit wet.  There was horse painting! Fire and rescue gave rides in the ladder trunk.  There was a climbing wall, a seat belt simulator, giant bubbles, free hot dogs,  and free donuts. Many non-profits were there with educational information and activities for the youth.

Better Brodhead had another photo booth at the event!  This year’s theme was Star Wars.  Youth and adults joined in the fun by dressing up in costumes and having their photos taken in front of our galaxy backdrop.  Check out the photos – you may see some local celebrities!
